Nick Ellis
@nickellis
Experienced English educator specializing in curriculum and writing instruction.
What I'm looking for
I am an English educator with classroom experience from middle school to high school, focused on curriculum development, student engagement, and restorative practices. I hold a Masters of Education in English Education and a BA in English & Linguistics, and I am licensed to teach English grades 5–12 in New Hampshire.
Throughout my career I have designed high-interest units across genres—from urban legends and crime literature to poetry and the classics—and implemented constructivist methods and RTI interventions for writing and language mechanics. I have taken leadership roles such as 6th Grade Team Leader, SEL Committee member, and club advisor, and I bring experience working with students with ASD and other special needs.
I also pursue professional development in creative writing and linguistics, with experiences including a Poet Fellowship, linguistic fieldwork in Senegal, and community support work. I seek roles where I can continue building student-centered curriculum, foster strong classroom relationships, and contribute to collaborative professional learning communities.
