I’m looking for a NICU role where I can deliver expert, family-centered care for critically ill neonates, work closely with a multidisciplinary team, and contribute to safety and breastfeeding-focused improvements.
Ellen Allsopp
@ellenallsopp
NICU RN focused on critically ill neonatal care, family support, and evidence-based breastfeeding.
What I'm looking for
I’m a staff nurse with extensive experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, working collaboratively in a Level IV NICU to provide exceptional care from delivery through discharge. I focus on strong assessment skills, quickly identifying changes in a neonate’s condition and adapting interventions as needed for gestationally appropriate care.
I support complex medical and surgical care by assisting neonatologists, NNPs, pediatric surgeons, and others with procedures, while delivering developmentally appropriate routine care. I’ve cared for neonates requiring advanced interventions such as ECMO, ventilators (including high-frequency jet and oscillators), umbilical catheters, therapeutic hypothermia, and blood and blood product administration, and I’m skilled in IVs, medication delivery, vaccinations, bloodwork, and lab testing.
I’m also deeply committed to family-centered care—communicating empathetically with parents and guardians about status, expectations, ongoing needs, proper infant care, and discharge requirements. Through roles like Certified Breastfeeding Counselor and participation in breastfeeding-focused committees and champion responsibilities (including Preceptor and Safety Champion), I aim to strengthen patient outcomes and mentor others while continuing my nursing education.
