What I'm looking for

I’m looking to continue teaching and conducting sociological research that is ethical, inclusive, and community-centered—advancing equity and belonging through effective studies, scholarly work, and collaborative education.

I am a Sociologist with over 10 years post-doctoral research and teaching experience, adept at designing effective and ethical studies. My work is dedicated to promoting inclusivity, equity, and belonging in education, research, and collaboration.

I currently serve as an Associate Professor of Sociology, Fixed-Term at Winona State University (Aug 2024–Present). Previously, I was an Associate Professor at St. Cloud State University (Aug 2018–Sep 2024), building research and teaching programs grounded in community impact.

Earlier in my career, I held multiple full-time faculty roles, including Assistant Professor at St. Cloud State University (Aug 2014–2018) and Assistant Professor at California State University, Fresno (Aug 2007–May 2012). I also taught as a Sociology Lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville (Aug 2012–May 2014) and served as a Graduate Instructor, teaching assistant, and research assistant at the University of Iowa (2000–2007).

My PhD and Master of Arts are in Sociology—Social Psychology from the University of Iowa (2000–2008), with specialization in Social Psychology, Family, and Sociology of Mental Health Research. My dissertation examined The Effect of Neighborhood Disorder and Collective Efficacy on Child/Adolescent Internalizing Disorders, and I have co-authored scholarly work and encyclopedia entries; I also bring proficiency in SPSS, STATA, Lisrel, and HLM to research and instruction.
