What I'm looking for
I’m a Social Work Professor (PhD in Social Work) who builds research and teaching around diversity, social justice, and community-informed solutions. My work centers on health equity and translational research, with a clear focus on the social determinants of health.
I teach across Associate, Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral levels—covering courses such as Diversity, Social Justice, Social Policy, Research Methods, and Pedagogy. At The University of Texas at Austin, I held tenured faculty roles and led equity- and curriculum-focused initiatives, including serving on diversity and inclusion committees and supporting students through advisement and mentorship.
My research expertise includes Community Participatory Research, Health Equity, Health Promotion, Co-occurence of HIV/AIDS, Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), Substance Abuse, Mental Health, and Social Determinants of Health. I’ve served as a Principal Investigator and grant reviewer on externally funded projects and have been recognized for teaching impact, including Teacher of the Year (2025) and multiple distinguished teaching and community-impact honors.
