Brandon Hamm
@brandonhamm
IT support technician focused on secure Linux networking, help desk troubleshooting, and reliable customer-first service.
What I'm looking for
I’m a US-based IT student and Level 1 Help Desk Technician who enjoys turning complex issues into clear, dependable fixes for end users. I’m earning my B.S. in Information Technology at Arizona State University (3.59 GPA; Dean’s List) and I’m accepted into a 4+1 Master’s Program in IT starting Fall 2026.
In my homelab, I’ve deployed bare-metal Ubuntu Server with Docker applications that power real services, including Tailscale VPN, AdGuard Home (blocking 2k+ daily requests), and self-hosted AI with Ollama. I use least-privilege permissions (chmod/chown) and Python/cron automation to load-balance local LLM processing pipelines while keeping operational security tight, and I built a 3-2-1 disaster recovery setup using Systemd Persistent Timers plus Rclone AES-256 encryption for zero-knowledge, asynchronous redundancy.
Professionally, I’ve delivered hands-on support through Robert Half’s contract role as a Level 1 Help Desk Technician, where I audited and removed 200+ unused Google Workspace licenses to save thousands in recurring costs and completed a two-week project in one day. I also executed Windows OS upgrades and security patching across multiple endpoints, resolved critical failures using Windows Recovery Environment tools while maintaining data integrity, and supported users during a statewide healthcare system outage with temporary workarounds. Previously, I served as an acting lead technician at Schrock Innovations, consistently exceeding monthly sales targets and improving the shop’s Google Maps rating to 4.8 stars by focusing on exceptional customer service.
