Benefits and perks at You Need a Budget
Learn about the 8 benefits and perks You Need a Budget offers its employees.
Paid parental leave
We also offer generous paid parental leave for all full-time team members. (Here’s to increasing the world’s budgeters, one child at a time!)
No outrageous hours
We rarely work more than 40 hours per week. There may be times where things get busy and people put some extra time in, but then they take some extra time off, so it all balances out. We work hard and smart but we’re in this for the long haul.
Profit sharing
We offer profit-share bonuses twice a year—if YNAB wins, everybody wins. Everyone also gets birthday and holiday presents. We get ideas from your 50-item bucket list, your spouse, your best friend, your mom, your manager … you get the picture. No boring gifts here.
Live where you want
Proximity doesn’t influence productivity so we all work remotely. As long as there’s a reliable internet connection, you’re good to travel or live wherever you’d like. Just share pictures so we can really hate you and your life of extravagant travel to exotic places.
Healthcare benefits
For full-time W2 employees in the U.S., we offer fantastic health, dental, and vision insurance, where we cover 100% of the premium for you and your family. No need to check your vision, you read that right—100%. Although if you did need to check your vision, NBD, we’ve got you covered!
Take vacation (seriously)
We have a minimum vacation policy of three weeks per year (five feels about right), and we will (kindly) bug you if you aren’t taking enough time off. We also have a two-week company holiday break every year! You’ll often see vacation photos posted in our internal chat room, creatively named #office_wall.
Retirement benefits
For full- and part-time W2 employees in the U.S., we also have a Traditional and Roth 401(k) option. YNAB matches your contributions up to six percent, and the money is yours immediately. No vesting period. (Actually, no vests at all. Vests are forbidden.) For U.K. employees, we also contribute six percent to your pension.
Annual meetups
Each of our teams (developers, customer support, etc.) get together annually for a super fun, but work-focused meetup. It helps us connect and build camaraderie, while doing some very cool in-person work. We also get all the full-time folks together once a year. Best Western conference room, PowerPoints for hours, and lots of budget talk. Just kidding. One year, we were in Costa Rica.
