Role Purpose

To support our financial team by performing daily, weekly, and monthly accounting tasks, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions in line with accounting standards and company policies. This role also assists in monthly closing and reporting processes and provides support across the global finance team. The Assistant Accountant will work closely with other departments when required.

Key Result Areas and Outputs

1. Business Performance

  • Manage daily bank transactions, including posting journal entries and completing monthly bank reconciliations
  • Reconcile company credit card statements and validate transactions against invoices; monitor for potential fraud
  • Process customer credit card receipts and refunds; ensure accurate data transfer to accounting system
  • Accurately invoice key customers across multiple entities
  • Manage day-to-day accounts receivable tasks and maintain accurate financial records
  • Administer debtor accounts in accordance with credit policy; perform proactive collections
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts for two small entities (training provided)
  • Analyse P&L movements and identify accrual and prepayment entries (training provided)
  • Perform reconciliations across financial platforms; investigate discrepancies
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with key customers
  • Proactively identify improvements to financial systems and processes

2. Reporting & Administration

  • Provide support to ensure timely completion of month-end, half-year, and year-end reporting
  • Support year-end audit requirements by gathering necessary documentation
  • Administer the APAC finance department’s shared email inbox
  • Offer general administrative support within and outside the department

3. Self Development

  • Stay current with industry and professional standards
  • Maintain up-to-date personal and professional competencies

4. Health & Safety

  • Ensure the company is not exposed to unnecessary risk or non-compliance
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and tidy work environment

Position Attributes

Educational Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role within a mid-sized company’s finance team

Skills, Competencies, and Experience

  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles; journal posting experience
  • Strong background in accounts receivable and administrative functions
  • Experience with NetSuite (preferred)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proven multitasking ability and comfort in a fast-paced setting
  • Positive attitude and sense of humor
  • Team-oriented but capable of working independently
