Job Description

The role

We are currently seeking to recruit a Global Trade Compliance Manager to join our Risk & Legal Compliance team. You will be supporting the Head of Risk & Legal Compliance (HRLC) by developing policies, procedures, trainings, and providing support to business functions on global import and export requirements for SUSE’s products and services around the world.

The role requires a high level of subject matter expertise to resolve complex export and sanctions compliance issues, the ability to identify potential risks in a timely manner, and effective relationship skills to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders and drive export compliance throughout the organisation.

Responsibilities Include:

• Design, develop and execute SUSE’s export and sanction compliance policies, practices, and controls

• Manage all facets of SUSE’s trade compliance program, included restricted party screening, export licensing and control classification, training, incident management and risk assessments

• Develop and foster relationships with functional areas involved in export activities, including Sales, Product / Engineering, Finance

• Monitor global regulatory requirements, with support from external counsel, and ensure that SUSE’s policies and practices are kept up to date

• Review new strategic and commercial initiatives, including product development and routes to market, to understand and address export compliance implications

Experience & Skills

• Extensive experience (5+ years) in export compliance roles and proven ability to lead and shape export compliance programs

• Previous experience in the technology or software sector, including understanding of encryption-related regulations

• Strong understanding of US export and sanctions laws and regulations, including EAR, ITAR, OFAC compliance

• Familiarity with other jurisdictional regulations e.g. EU, UK, UN would be an advantage but willingness to develop this knowledge is a must

• Process-oriented with strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills

• Ability to deal with ambiguity and navigate complex regulations with a pragmatic, solutions-driven mindset

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including negotiation, presentation and influencing skills
