About the Team

Platform Engineering is a family of teams dedicated to crafting and maintaining tools for all Application and Service Developers at Stitch Fix. We focus on creating low friction tools and practices to maximize developer happiness. We believe happy developers write better code. We practice modern platform practices like Infrastructure-as-Code, Immutable Infrastructure, use of Containers, and leverage AWS as well as many other Cloud SaaS offerings.

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced hands-on Platform Architect to play a pivotal role in designing, enhancing, and scaling our Developer, API, and Application platforms. As a member of the Platform Engineering leadership team, you will guide our team of principal and lead engineers to formulate the overall technical strategy for the organization. You will be called upon to de-risk the hardest technical challenges we face, provide architecture designs and guidance for our systems and make buy-vs-build decisions to meet business needs and serve our customers efficiently. You will work closely with internal customers across the organization, understanding their needs and translating them into robust architectural solutions. Your expertise will guide the evolution of our platforms, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and aligned with our business objectives.

• Lead the architectural design and strategy for our Developer Platform, API Platform, and Application Platform.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across departments to gather requirements, understand challenges, and deliver tailored platform solutions.
• Define and implement best practices for platform scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Drive the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to keep our platforms at the cutting edge.
• Act as a mentor and technical leader within the platform engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Ensure platform architectures are aligned with the company's strategic goals and compliance standards.
• Oversee the development and implementation of platform roadmaps, balancing short-term priorities with long-term strategic goals.

We’re excited about you because you have…

• 10+ years of experience in platform architecture, with a strong background in Developer, API, and Application platforms.
• 10+ years of experience in a technical leadership role
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Deep experience at influencing without positional authority, using great judgment to help teams be highly aligned to the technical strategy
• Proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale, high-availability platform solutions in a cloud environment.
• Deep understanding of cloud architecture patterns, microservices, and containerization technologies.
• Experience collaborating with data scientists and working with ML platforms, demonstrating an understanding of machine learning workflows, model deployment, and integration with platform architecture.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a passion for innovation.
• Experience working in a distributed, cross-functional, agile development environment.
