Reddit is looking for a Staff Backend Engineer to lead key technical and design decisions and contribute to the full development cycle of complex services. The ideal candidate will have experience with large-scale distributed systems, GraphQL, and REST, and be able to design and implement maintainable APIs.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science or similar technical field of study
  • 5+ years of industry experience in large-scale distributed systems
  • 8+ years of hands-on, professional software development experience in general purpose programming languages
  • Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, Thrift basics, and distributed caching layers
  • Experience mentoring engineers, owning team processes, and leading cross-functional projects
  • Strong organizational skills, entrepreneurial spirit, and excellent communication skills
