Backend Engineer, SEO

We’re looking to bring in a full-stack engineer who is comfortable taking on the end-to-end delivery and technical leadership of complex user-facing features.

The Guest Experience & SEO team is located across London & Dublin and we maintain a number of user facing features, including TLDR pages, Post Recommendations, Topic & Category pages & ReReddit..

These are complex projects, requiring massive scale and excellent system design. On the frontend we have a modern stack, leveraging Web Components (through lit). On the backend we leverage GraphQL, Cassandra, Kafka, Redis, S3 Airflow and others, building our services in Python and Go.

Location:

Reddit is continuing to grow our teams with the best talent. This role is completely remote friendly. However, to accommodate the distributed nature of the SEO team and the rest of Reddit’s workforce, candidates in Ireland(Dublin) or UK(London) are preferred.

What You’ll Do:

• Be a key contributor in the delivery of SEO projects.
• Work cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering counterparts to execute product and business strategies and build novel products and features that our users will love.
• Communicate effectively within the team and across disciplines. Work closely with product managers and designers to craft compelling user experiences.
• Contribute meaningfully to our team’s strategy. We give everyone a seat at the table and encourage active participation in planning our future. Don’t just come along for the ride.
• Participate in product reviews and team meetings, providing technical insight. Help scope, estimate, and prioritize between conflicting needs.
• Foster a healthy engineering culture and collaborate with other engineers.

What We Are Looking For:

• 3+ years of backend development experience with multiple parts of the backend stack, from databases to networking to computing infrastructure. We develop with Go, Python, Postgres, Redis, Thrift, gRPC, GraphQL and deploy to Docker/k8s on AWS.
• We are language agnostic when hiring but use primarily golang, python in the backend stack.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams in a fully remote environment.
• Entrepreneurial spirit. You are self-directed, innovative, and biased towards action in fast-paced environments. You love to build new things and thrive in ambiguity and even failure.
