Our client serves small and medium-sized retail stores throughout the USA. They strive each day to be the best possible partner to their clients. We earn their trust by being both highly competent and highly trustworthy.
The greatest thing about this position is the variety of learning opportunities it provides. Youre not stuck coding lines-and-lines of code in the same language. You will be expanding your skillset by automating tests, refining SQL queries, validating REST APIs, integrating e-commerce flows, writing quick scripts, and making sure handheld scanners, payment terminals, receipt printers, and other peripherals all work in harmony.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain integration, system, acceptance, and Android instrumentation/UI test plans that map cleanly to functional requirements.
- Create and optimize automated regression suites—Python, C#/MSTest for desktop/server code and Kotlin/Java (Espresso, Robolectric, UI Automator) for Android—then weave them into Azure DevOps CI pipelines.
- Validate and troubleshoot integrations with e-commerce platforms, tax services, payment processors, and other third-party APIs on both Windows and Android builds.
- Configure, verify, and automate tests for peripherals (barcode scanners, scales, signature capture pads, customer displays) across Windows PCs, Android handhelds, and tablets.
- Investigate test failures—desktop, web, or Android—identify root causes, and partner with developers and product owners to drive timely fixes.
- Document results, file clear defect reports, and present quality metrics covering desktop, web, and Android pipelines to stakeholders.
- Continuously improve test environments, data sets, device/emulator labs, and tooling to keep every release—desktop or mobile—smooth and predictable.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5-10 years work history in QA.
- Setting up, maintaining, and performing test automation frameworks on multiple application platforms, such as Mobile, Desktop, and Web, and building test scenarios and acceptance tests.
- Proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language used for test automation (C#, Python, Bash, or PowerShell).
- Working knowledge of SQL (queries, test data verification).
- Experience with Git and CI/CD tools (preferably Azure DevOps or similar).
- Understand integration and system level testing and can turn specs into clear, actionable test plans.
- Can script automated tests in C#, Python, or a similar language using frameworks such as NUnit/xUnit/MSTest, Selenium, Playwright, or Robot.
- Enjoy tinkering with hardware peripherals—barcode scanners, receipt printers, scales, payment devices—and making sure they play nicely with software.
- Communicate clearly in English (written & verbal) and collaborate smoothly with distributed teams.
- You prefer the advantages of working with a small, tight-knit group (our company has 50 employees) to the advantages of working for a large corporation
- You possess leadership skills and are looking to advance quickly in an organization
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing POS, payment, or retail systems.
- Exposure to Android instrumentation testing (Espresso, Robolectric) or Kotlin projects.
- ISTQB or equivalent testing certification.
- Experience with containerized test environments (Docker/Kubernetes).
