Opportunity for impact
Our client is a healthcare data analytics company that uses rigorous comparative effectiveness research to help employers and plan sponsors improve the value of their pharmacy benefits. By analyzing pharmacy claims and clinical evidence, they identify which medications deliver the best clinical outcomes at the lowest cost and translate those insights into actionable coverage and formulary strategies.
The Role
This is not a ticket-driven operations role. Instead, this person will serve as the DevOps authority and architectural guide, ensuring best practices are established early and followed consistently as the system grows.
You will collaborate closely with engineering leads, architects, and delivery leadership to define and evolve the DevOps strategy, while also supporting key implementation decisions when needed. You will own the DevOps roadmap and will work with C-level leadership to define the priorities to deliver the secure, scalable, robust, and cost-effective platform necessary to run the business.
Your day-to-day activities:
- Define and evolve the DevOps architecture and cloud strategy for the TDRx platform
- Provide technical leadership on CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and deployment strategies
- Establish and guide best practices for security, access control, and secrets management
- Support engineering teams in improving build, release, and environment reliability
- Ensure infrastructure is scalable, observable, and maintainable
- Advise on and review infrastructure-as-code implementations
- Help teams troubleshoot complex environment or deployment issues
- Participate in key technical discussions and architecture decisions
Engagement Expectations
- Part-time role (approximately 50% allocation)
- Participation in recurring engineering coordination and planning meetings
- Availability to support architecture discussions and critical delivery milestones
You’re a perfect match if you have:
- 8+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Platform Engineering
- 2+ years leading a DevOps team and owning the roadmap and priorities
- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide technical leadership without direct authority
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including core services such as App Services, networking, identity, and monitoring
- Experience supporting .NET and React-based applications in cloud environments
- Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines for modern application stacks
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM, or similar)
- Experience building and operating systems that use automated testing and feature-flag-driven releases
- Solid understanding of cloud security best practices, including secrets management, identity, and access controls
- Able to explain the 'why' behind technical decisions, not just the 'how'
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and modern deployment strategies
- Ability to define environment strategies (dev/test/stage/prod) and release workflows
- Experience working in cross-functional Agile teams and guiding engineers on DevOps best practices
- Experience mentoring engineers and establishing DevOps standards across teams
Nice to Have - Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Application Insights, DataDog, etc.)
- Experience implementing scalability and reliability strategies for customer-facing platforms
- Experience in healthcare or HIPAA-compliant environments
- Background in site reliability engineering (SRE) practices
