Loka is a fast-growing software consultancy that partners with startups and enterprises to build breakthrough products in AI, healthcare, life sciences and other cutting-edge industries. We're nimble, creative and obsessed with helping clients move fast without breaking things (especially regulations). And we do it all while working entirely remotely and enjoying every other Friday off.

We're looking for a Legal Ops & Contract Manager to help streamline our legal infrastructure as we scale across multiple verticals, especially healthcare and life sciences. You’ll own our contract lifecycle process from end to end, including the nuanced work of handling MSAs, NDAs, SOWs, DPAs, BAAs and vendor contracts. You'll collaborate directly with internal stakeholders, clients and external counsel to make sure every dotted “i” and crossed “t” protects the company while keeping momentum alive. We’re looking for someone who loves the details, sees risk as a puzzle to be solved, and thrives on building processes that scale.

The Role

  • Contracts: Drive the full lifecycle of agreements at warp speed—including MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, DPAs and BAAs—ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory frameworks.
  • Legal Ops Strategy: Build and refine scalable systems for legal operations, including contract workflows, playbooks, approval routing and document management.
  • External Counsel Coordination: Partner with outside legal counsel (corporate, IP, employment, privacy, etc.) and special counsel for complex matters or escalations.
  • Cross-Functional Collab: Work closely with Sales, Finance, Ops and Compliance to ensure contracts align with business objectives while mitigating risk.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Help maintain our posture on data privacy, IP, employment law and healthcare compliance. Bonus points if you’ve dealt with AI regulation.
  • Legal Tech & Automation: Implement and manage contract lifecycle and AI tech to boost efficiency.

Required Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in legal operations, contract management or a similar role, ideally in a fast-paced consultancy, SaaS or professional services environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal English. You’ll be interfacing with US-based customers and legal stakeholders.
  • Experience meeting with customers, stakeholders and external counsel on a wide range of legal matters to drive contracts forward.
  • Impeccable attention to detail, with a process mindset and the pragmatism to balance speed with rigor.

Not Required but Good to Have

  • Experience working with health tech, life sciences or biotech clients, with comfort navigating BAAs, data privacy and PII/PHI a huge plus
  • JD or legal education background
  • Experience implementing legal and/or contract management software
