We are GRAIL, a healthcare company driven by the mission to detect cancer early, when it can be cured. This singular focus guides everything we do. We believe that by harnessing the power of advanced science and technology, we can make a profound impact on the global burden of cancer. Our journey began with an unexpected discovery in 2015 when Illumina's non-invasive prenatal tests detected cancer signals in asymptomatic pregnant women. Recognizing the monumental potential of this finding, GRAIL was founded in January 2016. The name 'GRAIL' itself reflects the ambitious vision of our co-founders: the belief that a simple blood test could indeed be the 'holy grail' of cancer detection.

To turn this vision into reality, we've assembled a dedicated and diverse team of leading scientists, engineers, and clinicians. We are leveraging high-intensity sequencing, conducting population-scale clinical studies, and applying state-of-the-art computer science and data science to deepen the world's understanding of cancer biology. Our pioneering product, the Galleri® multi-cancer early detection (MCED) test, is a testament to this commitment. This first-of-its-kind test can screen for many of the deadliest cancers that currently lack recommended screening options. Our proprietary targeted methylation platform is at the heart of our innovation, enabling us to identify the most informative regions of the genome and utilize machine-learning algorithms to detect cancer-associated methylation patterns and even predict the cancer signal's origin.
