Why We Need You:

This Senior Staff Software Engineer will serve as a hands-on technical leader within the Engineering department, owning the architecture and delivery of complex, scalable systems. The role exists to provide senior technical guidance, drive engineering standards, set an example for velocity and impact, and ensure alignment between technical execution and business objectives.
Our recruiting agents are designed to revolutionize how fast-growing organizations and large interconnected networks—such as venture capital funds, accelerators, membership communities, economic development organizations, and universities—discover the best talent. By eliminating busy work, our agents allow customers to focus on strategic initiatives and relationship building, leveraging the fact that the most qualified candidates often come from warm networks.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of complex, scalable systems aligned with business goals.
  • Champion the adoption of new technologies, tools, and processes that accelerate innovation and improve team output.
  • Collaborate across Product, Data, and business functions to define and execute on a shared technical vision.
  • Set and uphold high standards for code quality, architecture, and operational best practices across the team.
  • Guide teams through challenging projects by resolving architectural and design issues.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to technology, security, and evolving business needs.
  • Mentor senior engineers and foster a culture of learning, growth, and technical excellence.
  • Shape solutions that address future business needs and influence the technical roadmap.
  • Operate autonomously on large-scale initiatives, anticipating blockers and raising them proactively with mitigation plans.
  • Lead or create strategic initiatives that improve productivity, platform stability, and engineering efficiency.
  • Drive best practices for documentation, knowledge sharing, and cross-team communication.
  • Partner with leadership to rebalance workload and resources based on shifting priorities and team health.

Your Working Experience:

  • 14 or more years of progressive software engineering experience, with demonstrated growth in scope and responsibility
  • Significant hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails and TypeScript in production environments
  • Proven experience leading the delivery of large-scale systems with minimal supervision
  • Track record of operating as a Product Engineer, shipping features and products in teams without dedicated product managers
  • Experience working across teams and functions to drive outcomes, and mentoring senior engineers while contributing to organizational technical strategy

What Makes You a Great Fit:

  • Expert-level proficiency in Ruby on Rails, with deep understanding of the framework, its conventions, and performance optimization.
  • Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript, with strong experience building and maintaining production applications.
  • Product engineering mindset: ability to own the full product lifecycle from discovery through delivery without dedicated product management support.
  • Deep expertise in designing and building scalable, distributed systems.
  • Strong ability to translate business and user needs into sound technical solutions independently.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional technical initiatives from concept to delivery.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate highly complex and ambiguous challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to tailor messages for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience setting architectural standards and driving adoption of engineering best practices.
  • Data-driven decision-making combined with strong technical intuition.
  • Ability to mentor and develop senior-level engineers.

Who You Are:

  • Business Acumen & Functional Expertise: Leads system architecture aligned with business objectives. Anticipates industry trends and adapts technical strategies ahead of time. Collaborates across product, data, and business functions to define and realize a shared technical vision. Sets and upholds high standards for code quality, architecture, and operational practices. Brings a product engineering approach, making sound product decisions without relying on a separate product function.
  • Communication: Acts as a key communication link across multiple teams and stakeholders, ensuring clear alignment on priorities. Drives documentation and knowledge-sharing best practices. Fosters constructive feedback loops and helps resolve technical or process conflicts. Builds strong working relationships with engineers, managers, and cross-functional partners.
  • Teamwork & Leadership: Guides teams in task prioritization, factoring in dependencies and capacity. Partners with leadership to rebalance workload and resources. Fosters collaboration and shared ownership across teams. Leads onboarding and training for new team members. Identifies opportunities to strengthen team capabilities and drive continuous learning.
  • Problem Solving & Critical Thinking: Independently solves highly complex and ambiguous problems with minimal guidance. Integrates team and organizational strategy into decision-making with a long-term view. Responds to changing conditions with solutions that minimize disruption. Combines data analysis with experience and intuition to support key decisions.
  • Impact & Productivity: Operates autonomously on large-scale initiatives with little to no oversight. Anticipates blockers and risks, raising them proactively with mitigation plans. Ensures alignment on scope, ownership, and success criteria. Leads strategic initiatives that improve productivity and platform stability.

We help companies make the decisions that matter most — people decisions.

Our mission

To empower talent teams with everything they need to make informed, unbiased choices that support team growth and
business success.

Our vision

To help companies build fair, high-performing workplaces where every decision is made by people and based on data and analytics.

The Findem Story

A message from our founders

"We believe that of all the choices a business makes, that the people decisions will have the most impact on its success. Making fair, unbiased decisions wouldn’t be possible without the right data — in fact, data is more critical to this belief than ever.

As artificial intelligence transforms the role of talent across organizations, it’s important to remember that AI is only as good as the data it has to work with. Every day, talent leaders rely on data to decide who to promote, who to hire, how to uplevel employee skill-sets, how to build diverse teams, and so much more.

Our goal is to give talent teams the 3D data and AI insights they need to not only make the right decisions about people, but to prepare them for the future — a future where talent uplevels the value they bring to the business."

– Hari Kolam & Raghu Venkat

Our principles

Human-centered: People remain the most important part of any talent team. We do not replace human decision makers with AI, but use responsible, ethical AI to help them focus on the most strategic aspects of their work.
