EquipmentShare is searching for a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to support our team as the department continues to grow. This is a remote opportunity.
EquipmentShare is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to be responsible for direct supervision of Fleet Maintenance Mechanics and providing guidance to Branches on what is overdue, and coming due in their fleet.
Primary Responsibilities
- Schedules maintenance work, assigns shifts and establishes work priorities; develops and implements programs for preventive maintenance; manages, analyzes and monitors costs of the transportation fleet.
- Determines requirements for spare parts, supplies, and materials inventory; assists in preparation of specifications for equipment.
- Makes budget requests, maintains fleet maintenance budget and monitors budget expenditures.
- Researches catalogs, checks prices, orders and makes direct purchases of equipment, parts and fuel; makes work assignments, sets priority for training and reviewing the work of fleet maintenance personnel.
- Establishes performance expectations, conducts employee evaluations and assists in the hiring of maintenance personnel.
- Establishes standards of performance and develops operating metrics for each position supervised; conducts staff and safety meetings; provides direction for adherence to established work methods; checks and corrects work in progress.
- Provides supervision and assistance in the repair and maintenance of the company’s transportation fleet.
- Establishes local working relationships and develops communication tools in support of the branch goals and objectives.
- Works closely with local leadership to provide a safe, reliable and cost effective fleet.
- Observes and enforces safety regulations; prepares reports on equipment utilization and status of projects; attends meetings and training sessions; approves the purchase of supplies and parts.

Skills Qualifications
- Methods, practices, material and tools of the equipment mechanic trade.
- Operating and repair characteristics of a variety of automotive and heavy equipment vehicles, trailers and equipment.
- Occupational hazards and standard safety precautions necessary in the workplace.
- Equipment purchasing and acquisition practices and methods.
- Principles of gasoline and diesel engines.
- Principles and practices of supervision and training.
- Fleet maintenance record keeping systems.
- Principles of budget and fiscal policies.
- Plan and assign the work of Fleet mechanics.
- Develop a comprehensive Fleet maintenance program.
- Diagnose defects and repair a wide variety of heavy automotive equipment.
- Develop and review equipment specifications.
- Establish metrics, objectives and operating expectations.
- Maintain records and reports.
- Build relationships, communication methods and conflict resolution.
- Supervise and train subordinate personnel.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to acquire a CDL as necessary based on job requirements. Maintaining a valid driver’s license is a condition of employment. Qualified to perform DOT commercial motor vehicle inspections and repair braking systems as specified by DOT requirements, including documented training or validation of a minimum of 1 year performing this work. ASE or state certifications are not required, but are recommended. Experience and a working knowledge of Brakes, Manual Drive Train and Axles, Suspension and Steering, Heating and Air Conditioning, Electrical/ Electronic Systems, Engine Performance, Engine Repair, etc. are necessary.
