Senior Data Business Analyst (fully remote)

Now entering its tenth year, Craft Gin Club has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Analyst to create an analytics function. As senior data business analyst you will be working across the full width of our business, providing the tools and analysis skills needed to support profitable growth. Working with data sets from Shopify Plus, ReCharge, Google Analytics, Loyalty Lion, Gorgias, Xero and more, the work you do will not only show the culminating results of all our teams, but also help to shape future strategy through modeling and forecasting.

You will be reporting to the Chief Financial Officer to develop dashboards and reports in looker alongside core analytics the business needs to identify success, highlight areas of improvement, and model out scenarios based upon trends.

You will have a good level of technical understanding when it comes to business intelligence tools. You will be proficient in SQL, understand an ETL process, know what database schemas work best for reporting, and understand database structures.

This is an exciting opportunity based in South Africa (fully remote) working with our UK team.

We are looking for an all round senior business analyst who:

• Understands ecommerce and customer data intrinsically, and has ideally worked within other online brands, has worked within a start-up / scaling business.
• Has experience in using a variety of data tools, analysis methods and data visualization to turn data into actionable insights with demonstrable business impact.
• Will test the outputs of any reporting, and investigate data issues and work alongside the technical and wider business to devise solutions in line with best practice.
• Can work alongside the business to shape business rules to facilitate better quality data, in order to provide better analysis.
• Is comfortable with managing the end-to-end tasks within the data analysis framework.

Key Accountabilities

Data Management and Engineering

• Completion of BI migration to looker working alongside our platform partner, and technical teams. This is a one-off task and will be an early focus of the role
• Maintain robustness of existing data models as the business evolves, and create new models as required.
• Acquire data from any new data sources, assess the accuracy and combine / transform into interpretable datasets, reports or dashboards
• Serve as the technical lead on projects requiring data analytics input.
• Create and maintain process notes and manuals to record the company’s data structure

Visualisation, Analysis and Modelling

• Creation of key dashboards in Looker, working alongside the business to identify, analyse and interpret trends in complex data sets.
• Analyse data to answer ad hoc requests from key stakeholders and present back with actionable suggestions to drive change.
• Create and maintain customer behaviour models using data to identify the key modeling dynamics, and reporting to enable actualisation of assumptions and modeling out of the impacts.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Working with senior internal and external stakeholders to develop an understanding of multi-dimensional business problems, context, and data required to inform key strategic business decisions.
• Present information using the most appropriate data visualisation techniques for the required audience so they can draw conclusions quickly and make prompt decisions.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years prior experience working in an analytical role at another eCommerce retailer (subscriptions experience desired but not essential).
• Excellent knowledge of a data presentation system - Looker desired but will consider experience in other systems such as Tableau, Power BI, Google Data Studio, Qlik Analytics, Microstrategy or MS SSRS.
• Excellent knowledge of Database skills and SQL
• Excellent understanding of digital marketing data and visitor attribution, and good knowledge of Google Analytics.
• Strong communication skills to deliver findings in a succinct and clear manner to a wide variety of stakeholders so that they can draw conclusions quickly
• Passionate in mapping complex business questions to data and reporting solutions.
• Proven experience in stakeholder management, acting as a business partner across different areas.
