Overview:

The Chief of Staff work as the right-hand to the CEO and will be immersed in strategic and operational analysis, as well as take a lead role in driving large projects within the business, to maximize the organizational strategy and direction of the Company. The Chief of Staff must be adept at compiling information and reports for the CEO, enabling the CEO to quickly understand where the business is and the issues it faces. This position will be expected to give opinions on such findings, and proactively design and implement action and project plans.

The Chief of Staff will understand how the senior management team operates and how important decisions are made. The position is responsible for assuring there is a process for information to come to the CEO, and ensures that the information is thorough and accurate, providing that the executive decision-making process is effective.

The position will be responsible for executive meetings, planning for Board meetings, earnings calls, CEO presentations internally and externally, and other projects as assigned. The Chief of Staff will gain experience in the area of Investor Relations and Public Relations and will work closely with the SVP-IR.

Responsibilities:

  • Understanding the nature of each functional area of the Company, including Commercial, Product Development, Technical Operations, Clinical and Regulatory Affairs.
  • Attending business meetings with the CEO and providing action items and executive minutes.
  • Preparing critical meeting agendas and sending out pre-meeting documentation.
  • Participating in meetings and responsible for tracking outcomes and deliverables.
  • Working closely with the CEO to identify and prepare for critical thought leadership engagements.
  • Become aware of issues from an integrative, executive leadership perspective.
  • Obtain an up close and personal understanding of leadership and decision-making related to the simultaneous execution of a complex organizational growth strategy.
  • Manage and book all travel logistics on behalf of the CEO utilizing both commercial and private charter as required with the ability to make last-minute changes quickly and effectively.
  • Oversee scheduling and logistics for quarterly Board of Directors meetings and dinners, Kitchen Cabinet and Audit & Finance Committee meetings.
  • Point of contact for all Board members, VIP consultants and their staffs.
  • Directly assist with the management of CEO’s calendar, issuing invitations, organizing conference calls as required.
  • Work with CEO and SVP-IR to ensure meetings and travel are organized as efficiently and thoughtfully as possible, with sensitivity to the issues and priorities of the moment.
  • Generate all expense reports on behalf of the CEO.
  • Serve as a point of contact for the daily business of the CEO.
  • Establish strong working relationships with vendor network on behalf of the CEO, including private charter, hospitality, and travel in order to establish appropriate status, maintain positive corporate relations and reputation.
  • Support the Investor Relations and Public Relations functions and work closely with SVP-IR on key strategic initiatives, meetings and planning events.

Education, Background and Skills:

  • BS/BA or MBA with 5 years of experience working in the life sciences industry, which may include management/strategy consulting
  • Must be discreet, agile-minded, strategic, proactive, highly-organized and committed to the vision and values of Coherus Mission-driven
  • Willingness to work hard and take direction, ownership and accountability and creatively solve problems
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, suggest improvements to current systems. as well as establish new processes
  • Highly-developed communications skills (written/verbal) and interpersonal savvy

The Base Salary Range for this position is $190,000 - $240,000. Coherus considers various factors, including professional background and work experience, when determining base pay. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary.
