Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with the daily general ledger analysis/accounting functions for the company. This position is accountable for assisting with all transactions entered into the company’s accounting software.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist with monthly close including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Analyze account and department fluctuations to drive more accurate results
- Monthly amortization of prepaids, fixed assets and intangibles.
- Record monthly bank activities including international accounts
- Calculate allocations of shared costs across various departments.
- Update monthly Foreign Exchange rates.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Respond to information requests related to monthly financial statements and various audits needs.
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Deadline oriented, balancing needs to produce timely and accurate results
- Effective time management including ability to multi-task
- Strong problem solving to propose solutions to complex problems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly proficient with Excel
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (US GAAP) and regulatory requirements
- Ability to work on a team and independently
- Strong attention to detail
- Performs important work under minimal supervision with wide latitude for independent judgment.
Education and/or Experience:
- BS in Accounting or 3 to 4+ years of experience as a Staff Accountant preferred
