COMPANY PROFILE

Code.org is an education innovation nonprofit dedicated to the vision that every student in every school has the opportunity to learn about artificial intelligence (AI) and computer science (CS) as part of their core K-12 education. We increase participation in AI+CS education by reaching students of all backgrounds where they are — at their skill level, in their schools, and in ways that inspire them to keep learning, with a focus on increasing participation by young women and students from other underrepresented groups. The leading provider of K-12 AI+CS education curriculum across the globe, Code.org also organizes the annual Hour of AI campaign, building on the legacy of the Hour of Code, which has engaged more than 15% of all students in the world!

A unifying approach in a divided world

Code.org's global role in the K-12 computer science movement is only possible because we use a unifying approach across diverse and often divided stakeholders. At a time of increasing polarization, the idea of increasing opportunity for students unites people from across the political spectrum. Code.org's team members, students, teachers, and supporters have diverse and diverging view points, and they are all welcome in our mission. Read more.

JOB SUMMARY

A note on role structure: This is a full-time position with a defined term ending one year from the start date. Extension beyond that term is possible but is not guaranteed and should not be assumed.

Hiring is one of the most important things we do, as every person who joins Code.org shapes what we can deliver for students. The Recruiting Partner owns the full hiring lifecycle from intake to offer. They find and engage exceptional talent - people whose skills and experience are genuinely aligned with what Code.org is trying to do in the world - and bring the rigor, structure, and expertise that turns hiring from guesswork into a repeatable and defensible process. The Recruiting Partner is the expert in the room on assessing talent, from designing the right assessments and structuring the right conversations to coaching Hiring Managers to evaluate what actually predicts performance. Every candidate, at every stage, gets an experience that reflects who we are.

If you believe that the people we hire determine what we can do for students, and that getting hiring right is itself mission-critical work, this role is for you.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role you will:

  • Partner with Hiring Managers to define and drive hiring strategies, including role scope, sourcing approach, and evaluation design.
  • Act as the expert on talent assessment by designing high-quality take-home assignments and structured exercises that surface meaningful, role-specific signals and predict post-hire performance.
  • Assess candidates against Code.org’s cultural principles with the same rigor as functional skills and coach Hiring Managers and interviewers to do the same.
  • Coach Hiring Managers and interviewers to improve calibration and decision-making
  • Own the full recruiting lifecycle for assigned roles, with accountability for hiring outcomes.
  • Actively source candidates through LinkedIn, job boards, referrals, and creative channels to build diverse, high-quality pipelines.
  • Conduct screening calls and informational interviews to assess skills, motivation, and alignment with Code.org’s mission.
  • Deliver a high-quality, transparent candidate experience throughout the process.
  • Identify hiring risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities, and drive course correction.
  • Facilitate interviews and debriefs, with a focus on rigor, equity, and efficiency.
  • Build strong partnerships with Hiring Managers by providing data-informed recommendations, market insights, best practices with talent assessment, and structured feedback loops.
  • Maintain meticulous records and data accuracy in Greenhouse and other recruiting systems; track and report on key recruiting metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with the People & Culture team on offers, onboarding, and continuous process improvement.
  • Champion inclusive hiring practices and uphold ethical standards in the use of recruiting tools, including AI.
  • Continuously iterate on sourcing strategies, tools, and processes to improve quality of hire.
  • Represent Code.org’s mission and culture authentically in every candidate interaction.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

We seek candidates who have:

  • 5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, ideally in mission-driven or tech-focused organizations.
  • Proven success owning searches end-to-end, including sourcing, assessment, and closing candidates across a variety of roles and levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a strategic advisor to Hiring Managers and influence decision-making with data and insights.
  • Proven experience designing or co-developing effective talent assessments such as take-home assignments, case studies, or structured exercises that lead to high-quality hires.
  • A clear and specific methodology for assessing cultural principles and behaviors, with examples of how that methodology has changed hiring outcomes.
  • Ability to operate independently with sound judgment in ambiguous or fast-changing environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple roles and workflows simultaneously.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience with an ATS (e.g., Greenhouse) and sourcing tools; familiarity with LinkedIn Recruiter and recruiting automation tools.
  • Comfort using data and metrics to improve hiring outcomes and efficiency.
  • Bias for action and proactive approach to identifying issues and driving outcomes forward.
  • Interest in technology and AI trends.

In addition, candidates must:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Work within the continental United States
  • Pass a pre-employment background check
  • Be willing to travel a minimum of two times per year for team events

At the heart of Code.org is a profound commitment to democratizing computer science education, driven by the vision that every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn this foundational subject. Launched in 2013 by twin brothers Hadi and Ali Partovi, Code.org has rapidly evolved from a volunteer-driven initiative into a global movement. The organization's culture is deeply rooted in the belief that computer science is not just a vocational skill but a critical lens for understanding and shaping the world. This conviction fuels their efforts to expand access, particularly for young women and students from underrepresented groups, ensuring that the creators of technology reflect the diversity of its users.

Code.org fosters a collaborative and agile environment, valuing integrity, transparency, and a responsive approach to feedback from educators, students, and partners. Their core values emphasize equity, access, and opportunity, believing that a diverse range of perspectives strengthens the learning experience and the field of computer science as a whole. The team is passionate about creating high-quality, engaging K-12 curriculum and resources, offered entirely free of charge, to break down financial barriers to learning. This commitment extends to their open-source approach to technology, allowing for broader adoption and adaptation of their materials. The annual Hour of Code campaign, a cornerstone of their outreach, has introduced tens of millions of students worldwide to the basics of coding, sparking curiosity and demystifying computer science. By empowering teachers with professional development and advocating for policy changes, Code.org strives to integrate computer science into the core K-12 curriculum, alongside traditional subjects like biology and algebra, preparing all students for a future increasingly shaped by technology and artificial intelligence.
