Founded in 1918, initially to support soldiers blinded in the First World War and those affected by the Halifax Explosion, CNIB has evolved into a national organization driven by a passionate mission. [1, 3] The organizational culture is deeply rooted in empowering Canadians who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision to live the lives they choose. [3, 18] This is achieved through innovative programs and powerful advocacy designed to break down barriers and foster inclusion. [3, 16, 22] CNIB champions accessibility, diversity, and equity, striving to create a sense of belonging for both the individuals they serve and their employees. They believe that by embracing accessible practices, diverse perspectives, and equitable opportunities, they cultivate an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
