Represents the Business Product Owner at the team level, ensures that the team delivers functionality that meets Business, Client and Technical needs.He/she must have experience working with Agile technology teams (collaborating with other Technical Product Owners, Developers and Testers) and interacting with both Business Product Owners and Business Product Managers.
Responsibilities
- Works with Business Product Owner to understand business objectives and product features.
- Ensures features and user stories meet the definition of ready (“refined”) as well as the definitions of SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timebound) and INVEST (Independent, Negotiable, Valuable, Estimable, Testable).
- Works with Business Product Owners to prepare SMART/INVEST Features for the next Program Increment (PI).
- Works with the Agile teams to prepare SMART/INVEST User Stories for the next PI.
- Identifies and manages inter-team dependencies and risks – in preparation and during PI Planning and escalates issues when necessary.
- Actively participates in Scrum team events (e.g. daily stand-up, sprint planning, sprint review, retrospective) and ART Syncs.
- Facilitates Backlog Refinement event with the allocated Agile team.
- Leads stakeholder meetings to identify opportunities, simplify solutions and prioritize backlogs.
- Follows WSJF in conjunction with BPO to prioritize Features. Prioritizes backlog items accordingly.
- Works with other Technical Product Owners to standardize Feature and User Story templates and usage.
Qualifications
7+ years experience in a requirements intake (e.g. business analyst), SME, or process owner role
5+ years experience facilitating for a team of 5+ people preferred; additional business or technical training may be required
7+ years business expertise in Financial Services or Insurance
3+ years experience with agile development, in particular with the Scrum and SAFe frameworks.
