About the Role
We are seeking a proactive Project Manager/Scrum Master to lead a cross-functional Agile squad of 4–7 developers and QA specialists. In this mid-level role (3–4 years of experience), you will act as both facilitator and coach, enabling team self-organization, removing impediments, and driving predictable delivery through data-backed insights. You’ll cultivate a collaborative environment that promotes innovation, while maintaining accountability for progress, resource optimization, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
This is a remote position combining traditional project management rigor with modern Agile leadership. You’ll fully facilitate Scrum ceremonies while also handling strategic aspects such as capacity planning, budget tracking, and risk documentation. Unlike roles limited to Agile frameworks or classic PM control, this position requires balancing team empowerment with hands-on management of scope, schedule, and financial constraints. You’ll operate with autonomy and partner with the Delivery Lead, Product Owner, and Technical Lead to ensure impactful outcomes.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
1. Agile Facilitation & Coaching
Independently lead all Scrum ceremonies: standups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
Coach the team on Agile principles, continuous improvement, and self-organization.
Foster psychological safety and mediate conflicts constructively.
2. Resource & Capacity Management
Plan and track team capacity and utilization (~80% sustainable workload).
Monitor availability and redistribute tasks to avoid overload.
Support cross-training and T-shaped skill development.
3. Risk Management
Identify and assess risks early and maintain an active risk register.
Develop mitigation plans collaboratively and communicate status clearly.
Adjust sprint commitments when needed based on risk impact.
4. Impediment Resolution & Escalation
Remove blockers within 24–48 hours, escalating effectively when required.
Track and optimize impediment resolution timelines.
5. Scope, Schedule & Budget Governance
Operate within the Agile triangle—fixed time and budget with flexible scope.
Protect sprint commitments from scope creep by ensuring proper backlog handling.
Monitor burn rate and provide clear budget and schedule updates.
6. Metrics & Continuous Improvement
Track velocity, sprint outcomes, story completion rates, and team health.
Run data-led retrospectives and implement actionable improvements.
Maintain transparency through Scrum boards and sprint summaries.
7. Stakeholder Alignment
Collaborate with the Product Owner on backlog refinement and prioritization.
Provide progress updates and expectation management using sprint data.
Coordinate with other Scrum Masters to address dependencies and scale Agile best practices.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or similar.
3–4 years as a Scrum Master or Agile Project Manager.
Hands-on experience leading teams of 4–7 resources across full SDLC.
Strong expertise in Scrum facilitation, capacity planning, risk mitigation, and escalation.
Proficient in Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence).
Exceptional facilitation, communication, problem-solving, and servant leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and drive outcomes through data.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Agile certifications (A-CSM, PSM II, CSP-SM).
Experience with scaled Agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe, LeSS, Spotify model).
Technical understanding of software development or QA (coding not required).
Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, TDD, and modern engineering practices.
Exposure to Kanban, Lean, XP or hybrid methodologies.
Experience managing remote/distributed teams and/or prior Product Owner exposure.
PMI-ACP or PMP certification is advantageous.
