Shelby Blackman
@shelbyblackman
I deliver high-acuity emergency nursing care and improve emergency department flow and safety.
What I'm looking for
At Mills-Peninsula Medical Center's Emergency Department, I provide high-acuity care during critical emergencies, administering and titrating vasopressors and sedatives to support optimal patient outcomes.
I've helped implement and optimize the Physician in Triage program to reduce emergency department length of stay, overcrowding, and unnecessary diagnostic procedures while improving patient and nurse satisfaction. As a pod leader, I support nurse-ratio management, resource allocation, and staff breaks across categorized ER pods.
I manage a monthly influx of more than 1,200 ambulance arrivals as an ambulance receiving RN, using assessment, prioritization, and time management in a crowded, dynamic environment. I collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and safety.
I'm also committed to staff development through IV guided ultrasound, triage, and preceptor training. My neonatal capstone at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital focused on preventing skin breakdown in premature neonates receiving BCPAP.
