I am a Swahili linguist with over 10 years of experience in linguistic research, grammatical analysis, and language instruction; I hold a Ph.D. in African Languages and Linguistics and have published on Swahili tense, aspect, and pragmatic variation. I specialize in Swahili morphology, syntax, phonetics, and pragmatics and have a proven track record in high-quality linguistic annotation, error analysis, and AI evaluation.

I collaborate with ML engineers on NLP evaluation, co-developed KiSwahiliCheck, contributed to open datasets like Maswali, and helped create teaching resources such as a regional Swahili grammar textbook. I seek opportunities to apply culturally aware Swahili training data to improve language models and to teach, mentor, and lead projects that advance language technology for Swahili speakers.
