What I'm looking for

I seek remote or hybrid roles using my Swahili linguistics, translation, and AI-evaluation skills, in teams valuing cultural authenticity and language preservation; flexible ~20 hours/week with opportunities for impact and growth.

I am a passionate Swahili linguist and cultural expert with over six years of hands-on experience in teaching, translation, and language evaluation. Born and raised in Kenya, my upbringing immersed me in Swahili culture and shaped my deep understanding of the language and its nuances.

Since 2016 I have worked across teaching, professional translation, and AI-driven projects, ensuring Swahili content is grammatically accurate, culturally authentic, and accessible to native speakers. My work includes rewriting AI outputs, creating conversational prompts, and expanding training datasets for language models.

As a Swahili and English teacher, I designed lesson plans, prepared students for KCSE exams, organized a Swahili Debate Club, and mentored junior teachers, contributing to measurable improvements in student performance. In freelance roles I translated NGO reports, marketing materials, and produced localized content for community organizations.

I bring technical expertise in AI text evaluation and prompt engineering combined with a genuine passion for preserving and advancing Swahili in modern contexts. I am committed to projects that promote African languages in the digital era and to making AI systems reflect authentic Swahili linguistic and cultural values.
