At Eureka College, I create a syllabus and teach curriculum that engage students with grit and growth mindset as essential life skills. I also host a speaker series focused on stories and community engagement.
At the University of North Carolina Wilmington, I advised freshman, undeclared transfer and military students as they acclimated to university life and taught the University 102/201 Seminar. I supported academic planning, course selection, and career exploration. I advised holistically, recognizing the whole student.
At Illinois Central College, I taught English and humanities courses using student-centered instruction. I also guided students through job-description analysis, resume and cover letter formation, and mock interviews for internships, and received the Spring 2019 ICC Teaching of Excellence Award.
My work has also included teaching composition and creative writing, tutoring in a university Writing Center, and developing adult education coursework. My professional development includes diversity, equity, and inclusion and online teaching.
