Riley W
@rileyw
I build and test mechanical and aerospace engineering prototypes and simulations.
What I'm looking for
I'm building hands-on mechanical and aerospace engineering experience through research at Penn State, GTRI, and Kennesaw State University. I develop automated ANSYS Workbench and Fluent workflows for parameterized CFD simulations, evaluating drag, pressure, velocity, wake behavior, mesh independence, and convergence.
At Reliance Worldwide Corporation, I supported technical documentation, testing, prototype assembly, and cross-functional engineering development in a regulated environment. At GTRI, I maintain makerspace equipment, train users on safe operation, troubleshoot issues, and improve internal documentation.
I've also modeled seismic damper orientations in SolidWorks FEA, analyzed accelerometer and vibrometer data in MATLAB, operated UAS for flight testing, and built projects ranging from a Python mass-email system to a 3D-printed Arduino-controlled RC car.
Experience
Work history, roles, and key accomplishments
Developed an automated ANSYS Workbench and Fluent workflow for parameterized computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. Automated geometry updates, mesh generation, and solver execution for repeated flow analyses using Workbench Design Points.
Maintained and organized makerspace equipment to support early-stage engineering design and prototyping. Trained users on safe equipment operation, troubleshoot technical issues, and assisted with tool setup.
Developed technical documentation, supported testing, and assisted in prototype assembly for engineering project execution. Collaborated with cross-functional teams in a regulated environment, contributing to design and development processes.
