IT and Networking Technician at IT Solutions, resolving FortiAP adoption failures and supporting a five-campus school network.
South AfricaWhat I'm looking for
At IT Solutions, I support IT across a five-campus independent school network in Makhanda/Grahamstown. I configure Windows PCs and Microsoft environments, troubleshoot hardware and software, and manage Active Directory access.
I resolved FortiAP-221K adoption failures on FortiGate infrastructure by tracing the cause to a missing Security Fabric/Forti Telemetry configuration. I also support Hikvision CCTV and biometric access control systems, and authored an audit report covering camera coverage and POPIA considerations.
I built a virtualised FOG Project imaging environment as a proof of concept, captured a golden Windows 10 image, and demonstrated deployment to a second test client. The setup included an Ubuntu 22.04 FOG server and an isolated network with a DHCP/PXE boot chain.
Before and alongside my IT work, I wrote articles for Grocott's Mail and live streamed sports, drama, and other events for St Andrew's College, DSG, and Kingswood College. I used vMix and OBS for multi-camera switching and live audio mixing.
