Jamie Blair
@jamieblair
Software & automation engineer building reliable infrastructure tooling with Python.
What I'm looking for
I’m a software and automation engineer in the final year of Cisco’s degree apprenticeship, with over four years of experience spanning enterprise support, consulting delivery, internal tooling, and network automation. I combine software development with automation and network operations so teams can ship reliable outcomes in infrastructure-heavy environments.
In my current rotation, I build internal Flask applications that directly support a Tier 1 UK retail bank’s network migration programme. I created a token spend tracker with a solid data model and dual audience views (admin and read-only dashboard), and I’m currently preparing an integration with the wider migration system. I also helped rebuild an inventory “stock gateway,” designing a spreadsheet upload workflow with validation, mapping, bulk editing, and a repeatable release process for secure deployment inside the bank’s environment.
Earlier rotations strengthened my consulting delivery and secure-environment experience, including CNI-focused work and critical incident response. I independently designed and built a containerised, air-gapped version of an internal enterprise platform for disconnected secure sites—something that was demonstrated to senior leadership and adopted into production. I also served as first point of contact for TAC cases, triaging logs and escalating complex faults, and I previously built small Python automations to reduce repetitive support work and speed up diagnostic workflows.
I keep pushing beyond day-to-day delivery through hands-on projects, like a native Windows live transcription app that uses the OpenAI API with modern C++ architecture. I value practical engineering—clear data modeling, secure operations, and automation that makes teams faster and safer. I’m now focused on a Platform, Backend, or Automation Engineer role where I can build dependable tooling and automate operational workflows at scale.
