Aspiring bioengineer with strong research and teaching experience.
What I'm looking for
I am a dedicated and passionate bioengineering student at Imperial College London, pursuing an MEng in Molecular Bioengineering. My academic journey has been marked by a strong focus on innovative research, particularly in the realm of molecular biology and tissue engineering. I have successfully managed a biodistribution study on cell-penetrating peptides, presenting my findings to peers and supervisors, showcasing my ability to communicate complex scientific concepts effectively.
In addition to my research experience, I have contributed to various group projects, including investigating chemoresistance in pancreatic cancer and developing microfluidics devices for imaging yeast cells. My technical skills encompass ex-vivo tissue processing, microscopy, and data analysis, which I have applied in both academic and outreach settings. I am committed to advancing my knowledge and skills in bioengineering, aiming to make significant contributions to the field.
Experience
Work history, roles, and key accomplishments
Targeting Mechano-driven Pathways to Revert Chemoresistance in Pancreatic Cancer
Imperial College London
Contributed to a group project studying pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) under different stiffness substrates using polyacrylamide gels. Acquired skills in immunostaining for key intracellular proteins, NF-kB and ENT1.
New tools for investigations on yeast communities
Imperial College London
Contributed to a group project to design and develop a microfluidics device to image S.cerevisiae cells. Involved in testing and validating the device by verifying channel flow control of media and using brightfield fluorescence microscopy.
Mentorship Program
University of Toronto
Worked under a professor as part of a high-school research program to investigate knot theory, topology, and algebraically determining string positions. Gained experience in academic research within mathematics.
Non-Invasively Delivering a Cell-Penetrating Peptide Using Focused-Ultrasound
Imperial College London
Managed an in-vivo biodistribution study to evaluate the ability of a cell-penetrating peptide conjugated with a fluorophore to cross the blood-brain barrier. Presented data and findings regularly to the research group and supervisor.
Glucose Perturbation of Human Dermal Fibroblasts
Imperial College London
Performed culturing of Human Dermal Fibroblasts and various molecular biology techniques including cell isolation, RNA/DNA extraction, and PCR. Conducted ligation and transformation experiments.
Demo Subgroup
Great Exhibition Road Festival
Worked as part of the Morse lab to plan demonstrations and activities showcasing blood-brain barrier opening. Engaged with the public to discuss current progressions in the field of neuroscience.
Teaching Assistant
Lady Eleanor Holles' School
Designed a bioengineering outreach activity for Year 7 and Year 10 students to creatively design scaffolds for nerve regeneration. Completed this placement as part of the Communicating Science and Engineering module.
Teaching Assistant
Alliance Française
Assisted with running workshops in arts and crafts, board games, science, and film. Led lessons to children aged 5-11 years old in math, science, and French at DELF A2 level.
