I solve frontend problems that have become larger than any single feature or team.

Companies look for a Staff, Principal, Architect, or hands-on engineering leader when something important is no longer working well enough. The product has outgrown its architecture. Delivery has become slow or risky. Applications have diverged. Design and engineering no longer share the same foundations. A major product idea cannot be built safely on the system that exists today.

That is the work I enjoy.

I start by asking why the problem matters now, what has already been tried, and what is preventing the team from solving it. Then I work across product, design, engineering, and leadership to find the real constraints, define a practical direction, and turn it into steps that deliver value without stopping the business.

I stay hands-on. I design systems, write and review code, investigate difficult browser behaviour, establish the first patterns, and explain the reasoning behind them. The goal is to leave behind an architecture, a roadmap, and a team that can keep moving with confidence.

Over 17 years, I have modernized a large frontend without stopping delivery, built a JavaScript platform supporting independently released applications and dozens of versioned packages, and replaced framework internals to eliminate persistent memory leaks.

Frontend architecture can change more than code. At Veeva, I brought product, design, engineering, and QA into the same delivery loop. Teams could reuse existing patterns before designing, build with token-driven components and enforceable boundaries, and test isolated features inside the real application as they evolved. Each release flowed back into the designers' shared library.

In another episode, AI posed a problem: how can people and agents work together without losing intent, judgment, or accountability? I built a model-agnostic loop carrying evidence, decisions, and architectural constraints from planning through implementation and multi-model review. Humans controlled consequential decisions. The entire engineering organization adopted it, and it spread from frontend to backend.

Technology changes. The work does not. Find the real constraint, learn why it resisted earlier attempts, create a direction people believe in, and stay close enough to the code to make it real.
