Owona Gloria holds a Master’s of Science degree in Geo-Information Science and Technology (2016), Bachelor of Science in Surveying all from Makerere University (2011) and is currently pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Climate Change and Sustainability from NEXUS International University.
Gloria is a data analyst and the head of research unit at Brand Revolution Kigali. She was a project coordinator for GFA Consulting Group GmbH and successfully implemented a project funded by GIZ RELAPU entitled mapping of customary land in Amolatar district, Uganda. She was an assistant lecturer at INES-Ruhengeri in Rwanda in the Faculty of Applied Fundamental Sciences (Department of Land Administration and Management). She has worked with Geo-Mik Consultants Africa as a GIS manager and Survesis as a surveyor.
Gloria has 13 years of experience in: land governance, GIS and remote sensing applications, capacity development, data base creation and maintenance, programming and scripting languages, web design, mapping, development of statistical tools, land surveys and use of different survey equipment and software like AutoCAD, CAD land development, ArcMap, IIwis, QGIS, ArcGIS, Google Earth Engine, GRASS GIS, CRISP and statistical analytical packages like SPSS, NVivo, ATLAS, SQL Server, and STATA.
She has knowledge and has contributed technical expertise in; land administration, climate change, GIS applications, implementation of knowledge management strategies, designing lessons learned, land policies, land abandonment, Women’s land rights, land markets, statistical and geospatial data (collection protocols, storage, transmission, analysis and visualization), research on land management and governance topics, preparation and organization of lectures, E-learning (Facilitating, Content development and Assessments) and curriculum review for the department of Land Administration and Management.
She is enthusiastic about her area of profession and a real team player. She has the following skills: leadership, creativity, communication, self-motivation, lecturing, computer, high level digital literacy, networking, project coordination and management.
