I lead executive legal strategy for the State of Iowa as Deputy Attorney General, overseeing 110 attorneys serving major state agencies. I advise agency leaders on high-impact regulatory, operational, policy, litigation, and appellate matters.
Previously, I directed legal counsel for Iowa Health and Human Services and managed 15 attorneys handling child welfare litigation, administrative proceedings, and agency regulatory issues.
As Marion County Attorney, I led personnel, budgets, operations, and law-enforcement partnerships for more than a decade. I prosecuted serious criminal cases, coordinated multi-agency child-exploitation investigations, developed a specialized public-intoxication court, and helped advance Iowa's revenge-pornography law.
I've also taught undergraduate legal courses, provided Court TV legal analysis, trained legal and government professionals, and contributed to statewide criminal-justice, juvenile-law, and maternal-child-health policy.
