David Braungart

I’ve built my career in correctional probation and law enforcement, starting as a Correctional Probation Officer and progressing to Correctional Probation Senior Officer, and later Correctional Probation Specialist. I supervise felony probation clients and manage high-risk/high-profile populations with a focus on compliance, safety, and accountability.

In my senior roles, I’ve overseen offenders placed on house arrest, electronic monitoring, drug offender probation, and career offenders. I’ve conducted residence verifications, field surveillance, and curfew compliance checks, and I’ve performed warrantless arrests of offenders in both the probation office and the field.

I’m comfortable working at the intersection of operations and legal process: I write use of force and incident reports, use systems such as the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office CRA system, and testify in court for violation of probation hearings. I’ve also coordinated with local and federal law enforcement partners including the Tampa Police Department, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Marshals, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and U.S. Border Patrol.

I bring additional training and leadership from my background in defensive tactics and instruction, including certifications as a Defensive Tactics Instructor and General Instructor Techniques. Outside of corrections, I’ve taught martial arts and coaching as an Instructor, Strength and Conditioning Coach, and Operations Director, and I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology from the University of South Florida.
