Camila Aguiar Penha
@camilaaguiarpenha
Translator and interpreter specializing in literary and medical language access across cultures.
What I'm looking for
I am a Translator and Interpreter of Portuguese and English languages with 20 years of experience, focused on literary and medical translation. After living in Scotland for 12 years, I built strong cross-cultural communication expertise—especially within healthcare, social services, and multilingual community settings.
I contribute deeply to book publishing, with diligent writing, proofreading, and editorial support for book editors and writers. I’m known for integrity and ethical values, collaborating with others to reduce barriers for readers and strengthen connections between translators and publishing professionals.
As a professional interpreter, I have delivered services for the Edinburgh Sheriff Court and Justice of the Peace Court, including family hearings and social work hearings. I also interpreted critical medical information in healthcare encounters to enhance patient care and ensure language access across multidisciplinary teams.
Today, I work remotely as a Data Annotator, supporting translation and localization of AI models, AI evaluation, and LLM response evaluation and ranking. I bring rigorous accuracy, continuous improvement, and a values-driven approach shaped by my long-term studies and meditation practice.
