Role Overview
We are seeking a meticulous and skilled Histology Technician to join our dynamic laboratory team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality tissue specimens for microscopic examination, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established protocols. Your expertise will directly contribute to critical diagnostic processes, empowering our pathologists to deliver precise insights.
Responsibilities
- Process and embed tissue specimens according to laboratory standards, ensuring optimal preservation and preparation for sectioning.
- Perform microtomy to produce thin tissue sections, ensuring uniformity and quality for microscopic evaluation.
- Conduct routine and specialized staining procedures, including immunohistochemistry, to highlight cellular structures and components.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring all instruments are calibrated and functioning effectively.
- Adhere to safety protocols and quality control measures to uphold laboratory integrity and compliance with regulations.
- Collaborate with pathologists and other technicians to troubleshoot and optimize histological techniques.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Associate's degree in Histotechnology or a related field.
- Certification as a Histotechnologist (HT) or Histologic Technician (HTL) through a recognized accrediting body.
- 1+ years of experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting, particularly in histology.
- Strong understanding of histological techniques and staining methods.
Preferred:
- Experience with advanced staining techniques, including but not limited to immunofluorescence and in situ hybridization.
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and electronic health records.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in histological procedures, including fixation, embedding, microtomy, and staining.
- Experience with laboratory equipment such as microtomes, cryostats, and automated stainers.
- Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control practices in histology.

- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
