Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Histologic Aide to join our dynamic pathology team. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting histology processes, ensuring the accurate preparation of tissue samples for analysis. Your keen attention to detail and commitment to quality will contribute to our mission of delivering precise diagnostic services.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and processing of tissue samples for microscopic examination, including embedding, sectioning, and staining.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure it is properly calibrated and functioning.
- Adhere to safety protocols and quality control procedures to maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
- Label and document samples accurately, ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to refine processes and enhance productivity.
- Participate in training activities and ongoing education to stay abreast of advancements in histology techniques and technologies.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in biology, chemistry, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in histology or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
Preferred:
- Previous experience as a histologic aide or in a similar role within a medical or laboratory environment.
- Familiarity with histological staining techniques and laboratory safety practices.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in using laboratory equipment such as microtomes, embedding stations, and staining instruments.
- Basic understanding of histological techniques and principles.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain accurate records.
