Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Histotechnician to join our laboratory team at [$COMPANY_NAME]. In this role, you will play a critical part in the preparation and analysis of tissue samples, contributing to vital diagnostic processes. Responsibilities
- Prepare, embed, cut, and stain tissue specimens for microscopic examination, ensuring optimal quality and reproducibility
- Perform routine and specialized histological techniques, including immunohistochemistry and frozen sectioning
- Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with all safety and quality standards
- Document and maintain accurate records of all laboratory processes and results
- Collaborate with pathologists and other laboratory personnel to provide timely and accurate results
- Participate in quality control and assurance programs to improve laboratory performance
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Associate's degree in Histotechnology or a related field, or equivalent experience
- National certification as a Histotechnician (HT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent
- Proven experience with various histological techniques and laboratory protocols
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in a biological or health sciences field
- Experience with automated histology equipment and advanced staining techniques
- Knowledge of laboratory information systems and data management
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in using microtomes, cryostats, and embedding centers
- Deep understanding of histological staining methods and reagents
- Familiarity with laboratory safety procedures and regulations
