Role Overview
We are seeking a visionary Chief Gerontology Officer to lead our organization in advancing innovative strategies and solutions that enhance the quality of life for older adults. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for shaping our gerontological initiatives, advocating for policies that benefit the aging population, and leveraging data-driven insights to guide our mission.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive gerontological strategy that aligns with our organization's mission and values.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team in research and program development aimed at improving health outcomes for older adults.
- Engage with stakeholders, including healthcare providers, policymakers, and community organizations, to foster collaboration and drive impactful initiatives.
- Analyze trends in gerontology and aging to inform evidence-based practices and policy recommendations.
- Oversee the development of educational programs and resources for staff, caregivers, and the community to promote understanding of gerontological issues.
- Advocate for older adults at local, state, and national levels, influencing policy decisions and funding opportunities.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Doctorate in Gerontology, Social Work, Public Health, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in gerontology or aging services, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Demonstrated expertise in program development, implementation, and evaluation within the aging sector.
- Strong understanding of policies, regulations, and best practices related to aging services.
Preferred:
- Experience with data analysis and the use of metrics to evaluate program effectiveness.
- Established network within gerontological organizations, advocacy groups, and policymakers.
- Public speaking and presentation skills, with a proven ability to engage diverse audiences.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in data analytics tools and methodologies to assess program outcomes and impact.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and technology solutions that support aging services.
- Familiarity with grant writing and funding processes for gerontological initiatives.
