Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Geriatric Physical Therapy to lead our specialized team in delivering comprehensive and individualized care to our elderly patients. This role will involve overseeing clinical operations, developing innovative treatment programs, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care, all while fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for our therapy staff.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment protocols tailored to the geriatric population, enhancing patient recovery and overall quality of life.
- Oversee the daily operations of the physical therapy department, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of physical therapists and assistants, providing guidance on clinical best practices and professional growth opportunities.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design comprehensive care plans that address the unique needs of elderly patients.
- Analyze departmental performance metrics and implement strategies to optimize patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Engage in community outreach and education initiatives to promote awareness of geriatric physical therapy services and advocate for the health needs of older adults.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 7 years of clinical experience in physical therapy, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role focused on geriatrics.
- Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist.
- Strong knowledge of geriatric pathology and rehabilitation techniques.
- Proven ability to develop and implement clinical protocols and quality improvement initiatives.
Preferred:
- Board Certification in Geriatric Physical Therapy (GCS).
- Experience in a multidisciplinary healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing budgets and financial planning.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and documentation standards.
- Experience with telehealth platforms and remote patient monitoring technologies.
- Knowledge of outcome measurement tools and data analysis software to assess patient progress.
