Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Geropsychologist to join our interdisciplinary team focused on enhancing the mental health and well-being of older adults. In this role, you will provide expert psychological care, conduct assessments, and develop tailored treatment plans aimed at addressing the unique challenges faced by our geriatric population.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and evaluations of older adults to determine mental health needs and diagnoses.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that incorporate evidence-based therapeutic techniques and interventions.
- Provide psychotherapy services to clients, utilizing modalities suited to the geriatric population, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and supportive therapy.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and caregivers to ensure a holistic approach to patient care and promote community resources.
- Stay current with best practices and emerging research in geropsychology and advocate for mental health awareness in the aging community.
- Supervise and mentor junior staff and interns, fostering a learning environment within the team.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Licensure as a psychologist in the state of practice.
- 2+ years of experience working with older adults in a clinical setting.
- Strong knowledge of geriatric mental health issues, including dementia, depression, and anxiety.
Preferred:
- Experience with neuropsychological assessments and interventions.
- Familiarity with community resources and support systems for older adults.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and telehealth platforms.
- Experience with psychological assessment tools and methodologies specific to geriatric populations.
- Understanding of relevant regulatory and ethical guidelines in geropsychology practice.
