Role Overview
We are seeking motivated and passionate individuals to join our team as Entry-Level Forest Firefighters. In this role, you will play a critical part in the preservation of our natural resources by responding to and controlling forest fires, protecting both ecosystems and communities. You will work in a dynamic, challenging environment, collaborating with experienced professionals while gaining invaluable skills and knowledge in firefighting and forest management.
Responsibilities
- Assist in fire suppression activities, which may include the use of hand tools, water pumps, and fire engines to combat wildfires.
- Participate in controlled burns and other fire management strategies to reduce fire hazards and promote healthy forest ecosystems.
- Conduct regular inspections of fire equipment and ensure all gear is maintained and ready for use.
- Support fire prevention efforts by educating the public on best practices for safety and fire awareness.
- Work collaboratively with team members and follow directives from senior firefighters and fire management personnel.
- Maintain physical fitness and participate in ongoing training to develop firefighting skills and knowledge.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work effectively in high-stress, physically demanding situations.
- Strong commitment to teamwork and safety protocols.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in outdoor work environments, such as forestry, landscaping, or agriculture.
- Basic knowledge of firefighting techniques and equipment.
- First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Familiarity with fire safety equipment and personal protective gear.
- Basic understanding of wildfire behavior and fire ecology.
- Ability to navigate using maps and GPS devices.
