Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Fire Ranger Supervisor to lead our dedicated team of fire rangers in protecting our natural resources and ensuring the safety of our communities. This role will involve strategic planning, team management, and direct engagement with various stakeholders to enforce fire prevention measures and respond effectively to emergencies.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, mentor, and support a team of fire rangers, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational procedures
- Develop and implement comprehensive fire management plans, including prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery strategies
- Coordinate training programs to enhance team capabilities in fire suppression, emergency response, and safety practices
- Establish strong relationships with local, state, and federal agencies to facilitate collaborative efforts in fire management
- Conduct regular assessments of fire risk in designated areas and implement proactive measures to mitigate potential threats
- Manage incident responses during fire emergencies, ensuring effective communication and resource allocation
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in wildland fire management or a related field
- Proven leadership experience in managing teams and coordinating operations
- Strong knowledge of fire behavior, suppression techniques, and safety regulations
- Certification as a Firefighter Type 1 or higher and completion of the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) training courses
Preferred:
- Experience in community outreach and education related to fire prevention and safety
- Advanced certifications in fire management or related disciplines
- Familiarity with GIS tools and fire modeling software
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Deep understanding of fire ecology, risk assessment, and management practices
- Proficiency in using fire management software and communication tools
- Experience with data analysis and reporting related to fire incidents and trends
