Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Wildland Fire Program Manager to lead and coordinate our comprehensive wildfire management initiatives. In this pivotal role, you will oversee strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of fire prevention and response programs that align with our organizational mission and environmental stewardship objectives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement innovative wildfire management strategies that enhance community resilience and ecosystem health.
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and collaborate with federal, state, and local agencies to ensure effective program execution and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Lead the assessment of fire risk and mitigation strategies, utilizing data-driven approaches to inform decision-making.
- Manage program budgets, resources, and personnel to achieve operational goals and optimize program effectiveness.
- Conduct training and outreach programs to educate stakeholders on wildfire prevention and response best practices.
- Evaluate program performance through metrics and reporting, adjusting strategies as needed to enhance outcomes.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in wildfire management, fire ecology, or related field.
- Proven track record of managing complex programs with multiple stakeholders and funding sources.
- Strong understanding of fire behavior, suppression techniques, and environmental impacts.
- Excellent project management skills and experience with budget oversight.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse audiences.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in forestry, environmental science, or a related discipline.
- Experience with GIS and remote sensing technologies for fire mapping and risk assessment.
- Familiarity with federal and state fire management policies and funding opportunities.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in fire management software and tools, including GIS applications.
- Experience with data analysis and reporting tools to track program metrics and performance.
