As part of Workiva's Growth Solutions team, the Solutions Engineer is at the forefront of defining new solutions on the Workiva platform. This role is focused on exploring new markets, ideating and iterating on a solution design, and defining the best practices for all selected new solutions or use cases on our platform.
The Solutions Engineer supports the process of incubating new solutions and use cases cross-functionally. Together with other global, internal teams including sales, solution engineering, product, technical solutioning, marketing, and the services organization, the Solution Engineer is committed to develop best-in-class solutions on the Workiva platform.
As part of Workiva’s Growth Solutions team's current initiatives, the Solutions Engineer will also provide pre-sales support in the development and presentation of our ESG and Sustainability solution specifically for customers to address the complex problems that Workiva's platform and solutions solve.
What You’ll Do
Organize, ideate, and iterate on and utilizes existing and new Workiva platform functionality to develop new applications of our platform under the direction of Growth Solutions leadership and Senior / Principal Solution Engineers
Stay informed of industry trends, competitive landscapes, and regulatory changes to identify opportunities and threats and translate these insights into actionable marketing plans and opportunities for Workiva
Support sales efforts as needed by joining sales meetings and lending perspectives on pricing and solution licensing, and identify trends and opportunities for broader sales enablement training
Engage in Pre-sales Engagements by working directly with prospects to field-test solution design and set accurate expectations about the delivery process
Consult with Workiva team members as needed to support understanding of Workiva customers and the technology they use while identifying potential Workiva solution gaps and expansion opportunities
Proactively engage with Product Development teams -draft requirements, iterate on new Workiva platform functionality, and field tests with clients
Maintain and enhance knowledge of processes related to the solution in incubation through a commitment to ongoing self-guided or Workiva-provided training
Proactively engage with Product Marketing, Client Services, Scoping, and Customer Success to achieve team and company goals, as well as ensure post-sales delivery expectations are met
What You'll Need
Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field
4+ years of related career experience in client-facing software implementation or implementation service delivery
Preferred Qualifications
ESG/Sustainability Reporting background or related advisory experience
Carbon Accounting and GHG Protocol experience (ideally 1+ years of experience in GHG accounting; Scopes 1 and 2 at a minimum with Scope 3 being a plus) and creation of sustainability reports.
Carbon consulting experience and / or development of decarbonization strategies will be considered a plus
Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Carbon Accounting or similar Analytics & Reporting platforms
Excellent presentation skills - ability to present topics clearly and succinctly to various audiences (internal and external)
Be committed to learning new concepts, new regulations and industry best practices within a fast-paced, high-performance consulting environment
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Working Conditions & Travel Requirements
Up to 30% travel for customer meetings and company events
Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely, not in a Workiva office.
