POSITION PURPOSE:

Provides on-going professional learning and continual support to school communities to ensure equitable opportunities for students through strategic behavioral and academic success. Also supports the 504 team with 504 compliances.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

  • Extensive knowledge and skills relating to Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) planning, Grad-Point, and student promotion requirements;
  • Considerable knowledge of Homebound and 504 processes and procedures.;
  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point; Google Apps;
  • Working knowledge of electronic resources to support Homebound and 504;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
  • Ability to design and deliver professional learning;
  • Ability to work with diverse populations of students and adults;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, students, parents, and the community.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s Degree in School Counseling or School Social Work;
  • Three years of experience in public education or related field.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License as a school counselor, school social worker, or school psychologist;
  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of North Carolina requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated successful school-based experience that ensures equitable opportunities for students through strategic behavioral and academic success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors and designs processes for schools of how students enter and exit the Homebound Program.
  • Progress monitors and evaluates 504 compliance issues.
  • Utilizes expertise of the student referral system in order to gather data with various components to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Supports social and emotional needs of students and families in the process of transitioning to Homebound and 504 Plans.
  • Tracks academic and behavioral transition data of all students assigned to Homebound.
  • Applies and trains utilizing Trauma Informed and Restorative practices.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff and staff members of external funding agencies, and the community. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force. The work frequently requires driving automotive equipment.
