The Role

The Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (JEDI) Program Associates will support the expansion and integration of the JEDI strategy and programming for the organization. Reporting to the Senior Director, they will collaborate with the People Team and other business units to implement the strategies outlined in the Tides JEDI Strategy Plan. Responsibilities include translating the JEDI Strategy into a project plan, facilitating equity training, supporting Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), and contributing to the development of JEDI strategies for the organization’s performance management plan and specific strategies for Tides business units. The role will also aid in the development and tracking of metrics to monitor the organization’s progress on JEDI work.

This is a full-time salaried/exempt position. Exempt employees are expected to work the appropriate and necessary time to complete key assignments and related tasks on schedule.

This position is classified as part of our collective bargaining unit (SEIU 1021).

What you will Do

In partnership with the Senior Director of JEDI:

  • Lead the conceptualization, execution, and advancement of pivotal JEDI initiatives to achieve quantifiable impact throughout the Tides workforce.
  • Act as the primary organization liaison for JEDI best practices, serving as the central point of contact for information, guidance and expertise.
  • Play a key role in advancing JEDI learning initiatives and knowledge management focused on systemic racism and structural inequity. This involves facilitating training sessions, leading group discussions, and actively contributing to the development of JEDI training curriculums.
  • Establish and nurture connections with JEDI/DEI/DEIB professionals, networks and academic. communities, fostering ongoing engagement to both absorb and apply best practices and innovations in the field.
  • Partner with Internal Communications to draft communications for emergent current events, issues and initiatives, including practical ways to increase staff engagement in JEDI programs.
  • Assist in implementing project plans, establishing clear timelines for execution of activities and events outlined in both the Organizational Strategic Plan and the JEDI Strategic plan.
  • Contribute significantly to the establishment of project management and operational excellence best practices for the JEDI team, fostering a culture of efficiency and effectiveness in the execution of initiatives.
  • Deliver robust coaching and mediation support, specifically addressing matters of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice, fostering a harmonious and inclusive work environment.

  • Possesses an in-depth understanding of evolving JEDI concepts, trends and best practices.
  • Strong working knowledge and evidence of commitment to practices that support psychological safety, equity, and inclusion.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing comprehensive project plans to achieve JEDI strategic goals.
  • Ability to navigate competing demands with tact, diplomacy, and kindness, addressing the conflicting needs of a multi-stakeholder constituency.
  • Experience in or partnering with human resources and other business units within the organization.
  • Proven ability to hold self and others accountable for high-quality, timely, and effective results.
  • Ability to cooperate and work collaboratively toward solutions that generally benefit all parties.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with excellent judgment.
  • Adaptability to dynamic work environments, maintaining enthusiasm and thriving amidst change.
  • Exhibits robust collaborative project management skills, including planning and organizational abilities to develop initiatives aligned with overarching goals.
  • Acts with integrity, empathy, curiosity and transparency.
  • Develop and implement evaluation metrics to assess the impact of JEDI practices on the overall effectiveness of JEDI initiatives.
  • Experience implementing organizational strategies that acknowledge and address the potential impact of historical and systemic trauma on marginalized communities.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Liberal Arts, Psychology, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or other related field or study in human development (Equivalent work experience may be substituted for a college degree; a commitment to continuous learning and professional development).
  • A minimum of three (3) years demonstrated experience in a similar capacity.
  • Prior experience leading JEDI training programs, demonstrating the ability to engage and educate diverse audiences effectively.

Compensation

Tides is committed to providing a competitive compensation package. We value pay equity and account for factors such as your location within the U.S., your skills and your relevant experience, and we will not ask for your salary history. Your starting salary will fall into one of three ranges, depending on your location:

  • National market: $62,700 - $94,100 (Most U.S. states)
  • Moderate market: $68,400 - $102,600 (Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington D.C. metro areas)
  • High market: $85,000 - $113,800 (New York City & San Francisco metro areas)
