Are you a seasoned Technical Project Manager, with a track record of seamlessly managing delivery across multiple teams, and love to collaborate cross-functionally? We’re looking for a Senior Technical Project Manager (14-month contract) to join us at Thinkific.
As a Senior Technical Project Manager (14-month contract) at Thinkific, you will spearhead the execution of large-scale projects, oversee cross-functional dependencies, and actively enhance team efficiency and delivery. Reporting to the Manager, Program Management, you will work closely with Research & Development Operations to evolve and mature R&D communication, change management, and program processes to help our team achieve our goals.
Your goal will be to manage program execution through multiple project phases with the teams responsible for executing the work. Here’s how you’ll accomplish this:
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional peers across various teams within the company, including Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Design Leads, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and others
- Develop and maintain holistic, end-to-end project plans and roadmaps for the projects you support
- Recommend and help incorporate new processes and artifacts to improve the way we work
- Understand, improve upon, and champion our product lifecycle from concept to go-live, demonstrating the difference between managing and shepherding projects
- Use your understanding of best practices in Project Management to manage through ambiguity, utilizing your experience to guide the project toward the committed outcomes
- Utilize various communication channels (Slack, email, virtual and in-person meetings) to facilitate and drive project objectives, with a clear understanding of which channels suit the purpose and intended audience
The person we have in mind likely:
- Has 6+ years of experience as a Project Manager or Engineering Leader working directly with cross-functional engineering teams on complex technical projects using agile development frameworks
- Has a Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Is able to effectively influence, particularly at senior levels internally and externally within the engineering organization
- Demonstrated success in fostering a culture of collaboration and effective communication, demonstrating strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Possesses a strong ability to grasp complex technical concepts and facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Has strong communication skills with meticulous attention to detail and enjoys working in an innovative and high-impact environment
- Demonstrates a data-driven approach to project management, including building tools, workflows, custom work intake processes, and estimation models
- Proficient in collecting and analyzing data to drive stakeholder buy-in
- Loves to learn and grow. They’ve found (and keep looking for) ways to level up their skills in this field, whether that’s through formal education, gaining professional experience, or maybe even building their own business
These things would also be nice, but we think you could learn them on the job:
- Have certifications in Project Management, Change Management, and or Agile
- Experience coaching Agile teams in hybrid work environments
- A familiarity with Google Apps, JIRA, and Confluence
- Experience working in an organization that has scaled quickly
